A common health issue not just in the United States but also in most parts of the world, tooth and gum can easily break your day, rendering you unable to eat, talk and concentrate on what you’re doing. Usually, the cause is from simply brushing too hard (after all, there is such a thing as overbrushing), tooth decay or an underlying gum problem.
If it’s from any of the latter, visiting your dentist is a must because tooth decay and gum problems can lead to something more serious if left unchecked. This also goes the same for unbearable tooth and gum pain. However, if you’re only experiencing mild to little pain, then here are some quick home remedies that can give you the relief you’re looking for:
A superfood with tons of medicinal properties, garlic can ease your tooth and gum pain. It contains allicin, which has antibacterial properties and is known to kill the bacteria causing toothache. To use, simply crush it into a paste and apply to your tooth.
A natural disinfectant, salt water can reduce the inflammation in your teeth/gums and kill the harmful bacteria responsible for the cavities. Simply mix some salt into warm water and gargle for a minute or two before throwing it. Additionally, it can also help release the food particles stuck between your teeth, if there’s any.
This may come as a surprise but essential oils are actually effective in reducing a toothache. However, it’s important to also use them sparingly. As for tooth and gum pain, simply dab a few drops onto your fingers and massage the painful area with it.
Exhibiting antibacterial properties that can destroy germs and protect your teeth, aloe vera is also a good option for you if you’re experiencing toothache. Simply take some of its gel and apply it to the painful area in your mouth.
Thanks to compounds called tannins, gum pain can be decreased because it kills bacteria in your mouth. To use it, simply prepare a tea like you normally would and apply it to the concerned area for about 5 minutes.
